Although the reason for the murder mystery is a little weird, plausible but weird the rest of the story is so good you just don't care. The story is about a secluded village off the map in Alaska that people just want to be left alone and keep to themselves un-corrupted but modern society. Little do they know that those that chose to leave the society never return to normal life. Sunny a strong willed girl who helps people scale the treacherous terrain leaving the village ends up in the middle of a serious storm, is rescued by none other than Wade, aka Brick. But as they are discovering each other one single night there are plots going on that no one knows about, that is until Sunny's sister stumbles upon an email. Their quiet little village may be no more but who would be responsible for their undoing.

Mystery, romance, suspense and hot sex. I even loved Chewie, cut little thing. But there is one unanswered question that I really wish I had an answer to regarding a family member. I'm hoping it comes to light in the next book about Franco.

I won't explain the book yet again. I will just say that this is the first book I read by this author and I didn't really enjoy it. It was so far-fetched and totally unrealistic. I can let my mind go, but to this extent? The characters were boring, the romance boring, the story line boring. There was nothing really exciting about a smart mouthed girl and the poor PJ who has the unfortunate task of rescuing her. I'm not sure about purchasing other books by this author now.
The book description gives you the plot so I will just give you my opion and feelings about the book I love the Elite Force series. The characters are well developed and interact in such a natural way. Ms. Mann's writting makes you part of the story it doesn't feel like you are reading a report about it. I would highly recommend this action series with honorable and stong (physically and emotionally) male characters who are in the military. I have enjoyed every book in the series and re-read them on occassion as well.
Wade is a para rescue trooper and Sunny is a Gym owner on a small island in Alaska. They met through a series of life threatening circumstances. Sunny has a deaf sister and a brother on the run. A tragedy is going to take place on Sunny's small island and its up to the Air Force and other law officials to prevent it from happening.

There was a lot of action in this book that kept me in suspense of what would happen next. Romance blossomed with Sunny and Wade as well as Sunny's sister Misty and an old flame.

I would recommend this book. I'm off to read the next one in the series. I hope it's as great as this one was. I've always been a fan of Catherine Mann so I'm sure it will be just as awesome.
This was my first time reading one of Mann's books and I can honestly say that I will definitely be reading more of hers. I am one of those old-fashioned readers who likes to have the book in the hand and worn pages after multiple readings so was a bit apprehensive in getting this for my iPhone but with a price like that & recommendation who could refuse? I LOVED IT!! I am definitely going to be looking to buy the actual book.

Sunny is a woman that you want to have in your corner in any situation. She can handle herself, a touch of toughness and roughness, she is great in the remote locations and knows what she is doing. That combined with Wade who is part of an Elite military group added even more into especially when he mistook her for someone he was to be rescuing. They were obviously attracted to each other from the moment they first met and a few sparks thrown in with it definitely helped out in the long run. The mystery was why they found bodies of people who had left the small remote town that Sunny was living in, people that everyone thought had just adjusted to the outside world and forgot about them. So if they were dead then who was it that was sending the emails? Why were they killed? What secret was someone or maybe more in the town obviously holding? It all came through in the end although there was a few questions left unanswered which in someways seems to happen in a lot of romance books but that is alright because then it does leave time for them to be answered later.
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I love this type of military romantic suspense. I would compare the general subject matter to Suzanne Brockmann, but Mann has her own distinct voice that I fell in love with. So many things that were great about this book. The hero, pararescueman Wade "Brick", is everything you want in an hero. Besides being incredibly hot, he is intelligent and kind. He has his own emotional wounds that need healing. I liked that when we were in his point of view, it read like a man (not everyone can pull that off). Sunny is a strong heroine (my favorite kind). She's independent and fearless and hiding her own dark secrets. They had a believable connection and the right amount of romance versus suspense for my tastes. The setting in this book (the Aleutian Islands) was original and the details were done so well you felt like you were there. The pacing was excellent, and there were so many cliff hangers you wanted to keep turning the page. I loved the Misty (Sunny's sister) sub plot. There was just enough of it to be developed without detracting. And as if all of that didn't sell me, Chewie the dog stole the show on numerous occasions. I couldn't ask for anything more from a romantic suspense. I bought the second book in the series when I was only half way done with this one. I HIGHLY recommend.
